Kevin, Dave's roommate, starts to play on a soccer team, and I am the cheerleader. It is the first day of practice and the team is bickering about who plays what position. I am sitting on the sidelines painting my toenails. Finally I yell at them, that if they won't do it, I will. After practice, after they have all showered everyone meets up at my house.
Dave and Kevin are living at my house because they lost the house in Golden. Dave suddenly begins to talk about the team, and then announces, in front of the team, that he is no longer with me. I stand up and yell at him, telling him that that is not something he needs to announce to everyone. Later I'm saying goodbye to the team as they leave, and they are all thanking me and telling me how much help I was. They also tell me not to worry about Dave, because I am better than that. After everyone is gone I go into the kitchen and find Dave there. We start talking, and it's nice. Dave says how it's hard for him to live here. His pact of having a productive day and not smoking until he gets home is hard when he can't smoke here. I tell him he can, but I know what he means.
The next day is New Years' Eve and it is warm. Dave goes to work and I stay home. Late that night I go out to look for him. I am only wearing a white button down shirt and a white sweatshirt, but no pants. I go to this coffee shop downtown where they are screening an old horror flick. Dave is here, sitting at a table with a bunch of other people, with his books out not really talking to them. I go and sit next to him. I don't say a word, we just exchange glances, but it's nice. After a while we sort of speak with the other people at the table; they are a bunch of kids from Jeffco High. One guy was studying law. Then we go home
The next morning Dave has to go to work at 1p, so I get a ride from Angel down to McCormick's. We're waiting in a parking lot and there is this dog in the back of a truck. Then Tom Rossie and Jason K. come up and are socializing with us for a while. I go inside to check on Dave and when I come back out, Angel has gone, so I start to walk home. While walking down 17th downtown, I walk in front of two retarded girls. One has a metal hook, and she tries to hit me with it, so I take if from her and keep walking, just a little bit faster.
I enter this building. There are many different kinds of rooms, and many different kinds of people and things. There are these women who are trying to sell themselves, and they have fake boobs. There are talking dogs. There are moving rooms. There is this vending machine with only colored buttons. Jim Carey steps out of one of the rooms and gets a drink from one of the buttons. I drink it, then I go outside. All of a sudden City Park begins to be animated, and then there are these roller coasters. I ride them for a while, until the drink wears off.
I continue on my walk home. When I get close to home, I walk into this cave, where my brother is. There on the floor are videos of all that I had just gone through.
